Callan McAuliffe - 'Sam' in I Am Number Four

When I talked to you at the roundtables it was your birthday and you were doing press. Did you end up doing anything exciting?

Callan McAuliffe: "No, I ended up going to sleep."

That's a helluva way to spend your 16th birthday.

Callan McAuliffe: "I love sleeping so it was a present. I hadn't slept all that much up until then so it was a present. It was good."

You've seen the film now. What do you think about it compared to how it was when you were on that set?

Callan McAuliffe: "Honestly, I didn't know how it was going to turn out on the set. I was kind of concerned there, didn't really know what was going on. I always am. When I'm in a film I'm always concerned that I'm going to look like a complete idiot on the screen. But, I did, when I went and saw it I was blown away. It was great."

Tell me about working on this and specifically working with DJ Caruso. How was he?

Callan McAuliffe: "DJ, he was a complete asshole to be honest. No, he was great. He was fantastic. I couldn't have hoped to work with a better director. He knew what was going on. As soon as he called, 'Action,' everyone just shut up. As soon as he called, 'Cut,' everyone would be having fun. It was a great atmosphere."

And it was tough because you had to work against things that weren't there?

Callan McAuliffe: "Green screen. But it was fun. It's part of the action film atmosphere. You have a giant monster that's actually just a green screen and you have to pretend to that there's a giant monster there and run away from it being scared. You have to use your imagination. That's what it's about."

Next up for you is going to be nothing science fiction-ish?

Callan McAuliffe: "No. I'd be more than happy to do another one of these. I'd be happy to work with everyone again. But you know at the moment there's a few things behind the scenes, just got to keep it under wraps at that the moment. But it's going to be an interesting year."

So if there's another one, are you going to end up with Number Six?

Callan McAuliffe: "That'd be cool. We've got an affair going on right now. Nobody knows it but me and Teresa are actually...we're engaged."

We will now spread that rumor.

Callan McAuliffe: "No, don't! We're recording this. Take back everything I said. It's a lie."

Yeah, that'll be featured.

Callan McAuliffe: "Damn."

Kevin Durand - 'Mogadorian Commander' in I Am Number Four

So you're a tall guy and yet they had to stick these boots on you too?

Kevin Durand: "How about that? Most of the time they make me step into a ditch and try and act smaller. This time they made me 7'5" as opposed to 6'6". It was kind of cool."

It changed the way you walked, right?

Kevin Durand: "It changed the way I walked, the entire movement changed so much. It made it very alien."

And tell me about that makeup process.

Kevin Durand: "Three hours. It wasn't too bad. It was really cool to sit down and watch me transform into this dude. He's something else."
