Billy Crudup Interview - Watchmen Premiere
Billy Crudup joined his fellow 'Watchmen' cast members for the U.S. Premiere of the film at Grauman's Chinese Theater. The special 'yellow' carpet was loaded with the stars of 'Watchmen,' and Crudup was eager to chat up his latest film.

Billy Crudup – Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen
What didn't we get to see of Dr. Manhattan in Watchmen that we might get to see in this extended cut that we know is out there?Billy Crudup: "Well, the scene on Mars is a lot longer. And there's some set-ups with Laurie [played by Malin Akerman] that sort of describe their relationship. They give you an example of how absurd the idea of being in a relationship with somebody who has his kinds of powers would be. So that's an entertaining aspect of Dr. Manhattan I hope is in there."
Were you sad to see any of those things go?
Billy Crudup: "You know, after you've done a few movies you have to give up any desire for any of it to be in there. You just have to be as content as you can with the experience, and I had a fantastic time working on this so I felt very lucky."
What was your first reaction when you actually saw the character with your voice?
Billy Crudup: "I'm not allowed to say it on TV but I was exhilarated."

Billy Crudup: "Oh, f--k me. I couldn't believe it. The level of detail…I mean, there's a sort of nuclear reaction happening inside of him that his skin is translucent. You see this power being generated. And also it's my performance. I don't know. I didn't anticipate it could be so incredibly rendered."
How tough was it to play the most powerful man in the whole universe?
Billy Crudup: "I mean, I get it. You know what I mean?"
It was you.
Billy Crudup: "Look around... I was baffled day in and day out. Every day was a real, it was the best kind of challenge and struggle to render such an exotic character. And luckily I had a great script and Zack's proficiency and optimism and everything. That carried me along."
