Bill Hader - 'Agent Haggard' in Paul

Are we not talking this evening?

Bill Hader: "Yeah, we are talking this evening. You won't stop shaking my hand. It's weird."

No, it's you. And there's all these weird bugs flying around. This is such a weird night.

[And because you can't see this: Bill Hader won't let go of my hand]

Bill Hader: "Let go of my hand. You are a weird interviewer."

Tell me about working on this and working with guys that are the writers. You've done that before.

Bill Hader: "Yeah, a lot of my movies...my movies...a lot of movies I've appeared the writers are the stars of them. It's kind of great to be able to kind of rehearse a scene and be able to kind of look at them and, 'Right?' You know, 'Is that what you guys want?' And to kind of gauge it from their feelings. I like that a lot, actually."

Is there British comedy sensibility different than yours?

Bill Hader: "No, no, no. We all kind of come from that same...we all have the same influences, you know? It's interesting to see how different kind of they are in terms of their approach to it. They're much more kind of scripted and rehearsing where, especially on a Judd Apatow movie... Those movies are much more improvised and stuff like that."

There's supposed to be a sequel to this.

Bill Hader: "Yeah."

Do you think that they can come back with more Paul?

Bill Hader: "Yeah, I think it would be called Pauls. And it would be called: 'And this time you'll get kicked in the Pauls.' It means getting kicked in the balls, like getting kicked in the testicles for all the people at home that took a while to [get it]."

Joe Lo Truglio - 'Agent O'Reilly' in Paul

You had to not only play your character but get on your hands and knees and play an alien.

Joe Lo Truglio: "Luckily I had kneepads."

Why did you do that? Why did you agree to that?

Joe Lo Truglio: "Oh, well, I was so happy to be part of this movie. I've been a big part of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for such a long time that it was a thrill to work with them every day through this. And also Greg Mottola's a dear friend of mine and the opportunity to work so long on this movie and add to this great character, Paul, I just jumped at."

How difficult is it to incorporate Simon and Nick's comedy into your style?

Joe Lo Truglio: "It's really not that difficult because they're really funny guys, as with many of the other people that I've been lucky to work with. They're really just funny people, and Simon and Nick are really down to earth and really collaborative. And especially on this movie where we're referencing so many movies that we all know and love, it was really easy to kind of riff on that. There was that common denominator there. They're just goofy guys and they've got those funny accents."

What thing are we not going to get? What reference are we not going to get in this movie?

Joe Lo Truglio: "I think there's two. One, I think is probably a Capturing the Friedmans reference. And there's another reference to 1941, Spielberg's 1941 that may slip by some people."

We'll have to see it twice to get it.

Joe Lo Truglio: "Yes, see it twice this weekend!"
