Transcript:How to Make 5-Minute Salsa

Hello, I'm Brittney Olin, for About.com. Today I'm going to show you how to make 5-Minute Salsa, a great dip or topping that's short on time but not on flavor.

Ingredients for 5-Minute Salsa

You will need:
  • 1 28-ounce can of fire-roasted tomatoes
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 jalapeno pepper
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1/4 cup of chopped cilantro
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of lime juice
  • salt
You'll also need a bowl, a knife and cutting board, can opener and measuring cups and spoons.

Make the 5-Minute Salsa

Open the can of tomatoes and empty it into a bowl. Finely dice the onion and garlic and add them to the tomatoes. Seed the jalapeno, finely dice it then add it to the mix.

As a word of caution, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly after handling hot peppers and never touch your eyes or mouth before doing so or you're in for a world of trouble.

Finally add the cilantro, olive and lime juice and blend the ingredients thoroughly. There you have it, delicious salsa in just 5 minutes.
