Materials for Beachy Blonde Highlights for Men
The materials you will need are:
- Semi-permanent color and developer
- Lightener with a low volume developer
- 2 bowls and 2 hair color brushes
- Balayage paddle
- A timer
- Color scale
- 3 4" long hair clips
- Rat tail comb
- Cotton pieces
- Plastic wrap
- Sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner
- Blow dryer and diffuser
- Textured beach spray
- Gloves
- 2" wide comb
- Cape, towel and butterfly clip
Apply Lightener to Hair
Take whitening powder, take developer and mix. Next, get your cotton ready and plastic wrap ready to tear. Balayage is a painting technique. Take your paddle to use as a base. A rule of thumb would be you want very soft bits of lightener around the edges, so from the scalp you want softness to filter to the ends and the ends would be fully saturated. After applying the lightener you will want to take the cotton stick it underneath that section. Take the plastic wrap and cover that section.
Use Toner to Color Highlights
After taking that first section, take triangular sections depending on how the hair will lay. Set the timer for ten minutes. Once the time is up, you can check the hair. Next, make the toner. We will use a violet toner to tone the hair. Remove the plastic wrap and cotton, then rinse the hair with lukewarm water, making sure the toner is fully mixed and apply to the pre-lightened area.
Clean and Style Highlighted Hair
After the highlights are neutralized, rinse with cool water, then apply sulfate-free shampoo. Rinse with more cool water, then apply a color-safe conditioner. After 1-2 minutes, rinse with cool to warm water. To style, use a texturizing beach spray or a mousse and blow dry with diffuser to create more of a messy look.
