Everyone makes fashion mistakes but there are a few you can avoid while experimenting with your self-expression. Of course in everything, one overall rule is that less is more, but here are 8 things from your fashion and grooming guide to look out for.

Novelties Are a Big Mistake in Men's Fashion

Socks with Sandals: this shouldn't even need an explanation. Novelty Ties, shirts, boxer shorts, etc.: those gifts are funny for the very reason that they should never be worn. You want people laughing with you, not at you. Blaring designer labels: this screams wannabe. It's trying too hard for clothes and sends all the wrong messages. Designers who need to see their name all over the place can buy a billboard. The rest of us are going to be more classy and discrete.

Clunkiness Is a Big Mistake in Men's Fashion

Backpacks at the Office: why go to the trouble to dress for work as in a suit or anything professional and then put a backpack over it? There are classy gym bags that don't detract from your professional image if you need to bring that stuff to the office. But even the most paper riddle businessman should have a satchel or briefcase. Chunky shoes: your shoes are the foundation of your look, but not literally a foundation. So go with something that is simple, elegant, and versatile. Clunky shoes are like parachute pants for the feet. Shiny or glossy shirts and suits: this is definitely a place where less is more. You want to stand out for the right reasons, not because your clothes are wearing you. Bold colors can be great, but excess shine or glitter tends to be laughable.

Poor Fit or Color Choice Is a Big Mistake in Men's Fashion

Clothes that are too loose fitting: if your clothes don't fit, your clothes don't fit. Even if you don't like the tailored Italian cut, your clothes should fit your body. Too loose clothes say sloppy and disinterested, they are a turn off.  Unflattering colors: While its a good idea to jazz up your wardrobe with more color and also to experiment outside your box, it's also excellent to be aware of what colors work with your complexion.
