Transcript: How to Even Out Skin Tone
Hi! I'm Kate McCarthy with About.com. Right now we're going to learn how to even out your skin tone. Evening out your skin tone is very easy - I know you look in the magazines and you see the airbrushed, flawless skin - it's easy to obtain if you have the right tools.Moisturize Your Skin
Start off with moisturizer all over the skin, and the best investment you can get for yourself for the perfect look is a good set of makeup brushes. You don't need to spend a lot of money, you can even go to a craft store and get paint brushes that are soft, and those will work just fine. Always make sure to bring the moisturizer down the neck, and if you have any dry spots or blemishes, make sure you moisturize them very well. Really work it in - you can do something called "stippling" and you tap the moisturizer in with you finger. When you're done moisturizing, get it rubbed in - you can use your finger or a sponge, it doesn't matter - you need to find a good primer that is illuminating and that will really help even out the skin tone and give you a nice matte finish, as well as prevent shine throughout the day. Blend that in.
Apply Foundation
Matching your skin to your foundation is very easy - you want to match it from your neck, all the way down to your chest - that way you're walking around with an even tone all over. You don't need a lot, and you always do foundation first, concealer second.Apply Concealer
Now we're going to conceal, so you want to start by finding any blemishes - for everyday, you want to use a yellow-based concealer - same thing for the eyes. And then take your sponge and blend.Even Skin Finishing Touches
Before you finish the look, you want to get a good highlighter. You can get a cream-form or a powder-form, and what it is is just a translucent form of makeup that captures light. So you want to apply it to the bridge of your cheek bones. The last thing you want to do is set everything with a powder. You can use loose powder or a compact powder, it's your preference. And there you go!
