Hi, my name is Rebecca Garcia. I’m a New York City based makeup artist here for About.com. Today I’m going to show you how to use concealer to your advantage.

What You'll Need

To use these tips you’re going to need your concealer brush. A concealer palette, or a concealer that matches your skin tone. Coordinating foundation, your foundation brush, translucent powder, and your powder brush.

Highlighting With Concealer

So, with concealer, aside from concealing blemishes, and dark spots and circles under the eyes, we can also use concealer to highlight. So, we’re going to take a shade, just a few shades lighter than her skin tone and we’re going to highlight around the mouth here. This just kind of gives a lift to the mouth.

Taking Out Shadows

So, if there’s any shadows – this will take out the shadows. So, by drawing a straight line down the tip of her nose, kind of that highlights and accentuates the shape of her nose, and we can take the concealer and also highlight right above the brow. Just blend that in with our fingertips there.

Using Foundation

Then, we’re going to go back with our foundation. We’re going to dip our brush, swirl it around on the back of our hands, and then we’re just going to go over the concealer and just blend it in a bit.
