Transcript:How to Apply Mascara With No Clumps

Hi, my name is Rebecca Garcia. I'm a New York City based makeup artist here for About.com. I'm about to show you how to get perfect mascara.

Supplies Needed for Applying Perfect Mascara

To apply clump-free mascara you'll need your favorite tube of black mascara and a fine tooth comb that you can find on the opposite side of your eyebrow brush.

Comb the Eyelashes

So, we're going to start without mascara brush and we're going to start by gently rocking at the base, and then coming out with the brush toward the tip of the lash.

Apply the Mascara

So, rock at the base and comb out. We're going to go to this other side. Rock at the base and comb out. So, we're applying our second coat, rocking at the base and combing out. This will create a thicker line at the lash by rocking at the base here. And it will also help comb through so that we don't get any clumps.

Finish the Mascara Look

And while the mascara's still wet take your lash comb and just gently comb through and separate the tips of the lashes.
