Transcript:Lettuce Wraps Raw FoodsHi, I’m chef Roblé for About.com. Today we’re going to be working with all raw foods. We are going to make some festive lettuce wraps. Here we go.
Here Are Our Ingredients:
- 12 leaves of cilantro
- 1 avocado, diced small
- 2 tablespoons red onion, diced small
- 1 ear of raw,corn, cleaned
- 3 plum tomatoes, diced small
- 1 head of Romain lettuce, cleaned
- kosher salt
- fresh cracked black pepper
Combine the Raw IngredientsThe first thing, we are going to chop the cilantro. In a bowl combine the corn, avocado, tomato, red onion, and cilantro. Season with salt and pepper. Mix the contents of the bowl together and set aside.
Create the Lettuce WrapWe are going to take the head of lettuce and chop off the bottom. We are going to cut a little bit. I say a half of an inch off of the top, and then we are going to cut directly down the middle. So we’re going to take a piece of the lettuce and put a little bit of the stuffing right in the middle.
Roll the Lettuce WrapWe are going to roll this thing up like a cigar. So just tuck in the back piece. This will keep everything from spilling out. Tuck that right in and roll that right over. It’s nice and tight. Take a toothpick and just pop the toothpick right through the middle of it. That will hold it together and that is your lettuce wrap. Just keep repeating this process until everything is done.
