Transcript:Simple and Healthy Vegetable JuiceHi! I'm Debbie Anderson for About.com Food & Drink. Drinking freshly squeezed vegetable juices are one of the most fun and healthiest ways to add rich nutrients to your daily diet. However, not all vegetable juices taste great! So today I'm going to show you how to make a quick and easy vegetable juice that is loaded with natural vitamins and can be made with items easily found at your local grocery store.
Vegetable Juice IngredientsFor this drink, you will need:
- 3 to 4 good size carrots
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 cucumber
- 3 to 4 long sticks of celery
Carrot Juice and VitaminsAfter turning on the juicer, slowly lower the carrots into the feed tube on the juicer and use the food pusher to slide each of the carrots all the way down toward the blades. Carrot juice contains vitamins A, B, C, D, and E, as well as iron, carotene, cobalt, and copper. When creating any type of naturally squeezed vegetable juice, carrots are an important juice to add into the mix because not only does the juice taste great, but carrot juice is also considered to be one of the most important juices to contain anti-oxidant properties.
Tomato Juice and VitaminsTo get your vitamin C and carotene, carefully drop two tomatoes into the juicer. Tomato juice contains vitamin C and carotene.
Add the CucumberNext, drop the entire cucumber into the juicer and allow the juicer to go to work. Although cucumber juice doesn't always taste as pleasant as other juices when drinking it by itself, the benefit of adding a cucumber when mixing any vegetable juices is that the effect of cucumber juice amplifies in combination with other juices.
Juice the CeleryFinally, add the final touch by lowering your celery sticks into the juicer. Personally, I love the taste of celery juice! It is a great source of vitamin C and other vitamins from the B group, and is also a great organic source for sodium, potassium, calcium, and phosphorus. Not only is celery a great source of vitamins, but it really helps with fatigue!
Once the juice is squeezed, mix the veggie cocktail in the catch container with a long spoon and pour it into your favorite glass! Mmm! Delicious!
