Hi I am Kari Britton I am a Reg Nurse here today for About.com health and I am going to give you so ideas on How to Start the Atkins Diet.
Information About How to Start the Atkins Diet
There are basically four (4) phases- which are outlined in the book or you can go online and type in Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution.
Phases of the Atkins Diet
Induction Phase, the ongoing weight loss phase, the pre-maintenance and then maintenance, or what is referred to as ACE (Atkins Carbohydrate Equilibrium).
Before You Start the Atkins Diet
Also here are some things you do before you start the diet and prepare for the 4 phases. First Start a daily journal and log everything you eat during a week, leading up to phase I and the beginning of the Atkins diet. This will help you to know which food items you will be changing once you start the Adkins diet.
Second set up a Plan for an exercise routine to go with diet.start slow with something like walking everyday for 15- 20 minutes. As you continue to loose weight, increase your routine by adding weights and more intense cardio.
Third – Grocery shop and Stock your cabinets with Atkins friendly food. There are numerous list in the book and on line, and above all get rid of the forbidden foods.
And fourth, write down your weight and measurements. Measure your chest/bust, waist, hips, upper arms and the thighs area too. In four weeks after being on the Atkins, diet you will be amazed at how many inches you have lost. So these where some tips on how you get started on the Atkins Diet.
