Transcript:Common Mistakes in Low Carb Dieting
Low Carb dieting is one of the most effective approaches to weight loss. However, some pitfalls can stop you from getting in shape. I'm Marc Stephan and today we are going to talk about common mistakes in low carb dieting.
Prepare for the Low Carb Diet
Low carb dieting is not rocket science. However, it does require some basic knowledge about food and its content to make your weight loss story a successful one. Learn what foods are carb dense and high in calories. Also make yourself familiar with basic guidelines of low carb dieting.
Low Carb Dieting Takes Time
Giving up too quickly is a problem that appears in any diet but it seems especially common when it comes to low carb dieting. Mostly because many of us tend to the extreme and start our weight loss journey with way to little carbs, so we set ourselves up to suffer from severe carb crashes. Before considering quitting give yourself at least one or two weeks to adjust to by reducing your carb intake day by day.
Eat Your Vegetables
Low carb dieting is more than just eating meat. In fact, a balanced low carb diet includes considerably big portions of vegetables that are low in carbs and starches. Add broccoli, tomatoes, spinach, cucumbers and alike to every meal of the day. In that way you fill your belly effectively and feed yourself with needed vitamins and fiber.
Don't Overeat Low Carb Food
Eating too much is another common mistake in low carb dieting. It's true that carbs induce the release of insulin which plays a major role in fat storing. However, the avoidance of carbs alone doesn't do the trick. You still have to create a daily calorie deficit to see results on the scale.
Plan Low Carb Meals
In our every day life carbs lure everywhere. If don't plan ahead and prepare your meals in advance you will very likely end up eating carb dense food. Nothing can sabotage your goals more quickly than the feeling of hunger. So make sure that you always have your meals ready, so you don't feel tempted to rush to the hot dog vendor during lunch break.
Exercise on a Low Carb Diet
Physical exercise plays a crucial role in any diet. And so it does in a low carb diet. Working out in a regular fashion non only helps you burn more calories and reach your weight loss goals faster, it also comes with a great number of health benefits that you don't want to miss.
