Transcript:How to Make Sausage and Cabbage

Hi, I'm Roblé for About.com. Today I'm going to show you how to make sausage and cabbage. Quick and easy. Here we go.

Ingredients for Sausage and Cabbage

Here are our ingredients.
  • 1 head green cabbage (cut into bite sized bits)
  • 1 cup chicken stock
  • 14 ounces smoked beef sausage
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • kosher salt
  • black pepper

Instructions for Making Sausage and Cabbage

That first thing we want to do is to take our sausage and to cut it into more manageable pieces. Take your knife and cut across just like this. You want your piece to be about this big. About two bites.

Here we have a sauté pan over medium-high heat. Go ahead and add in your oil. We are going to brown off our sausage in the sauté pan. Once a brown on one side flip them over and brown them on the other side. Repeat this process until all of your sausage is browned.

So here we had a nice big pot. This is a 2 gallon pot. Over medium heat the first thing we are going to do is to add in our chicken stock. Next I'm going to give it a few turns from the pepper mill. Next we are going to add in the It's right on top. And finally our sausage is going right on top of the cabbage. Cover the cabbage. Bring it up to a simmer. Let it simmer for 15 minutes over medium heat.

About halfway through you want to come back and season it with salt and then let it continue to cook. We will stir it in once it's finished cooking.

So. 15 minutes later our sausage and cabbage is done cooking. What you want to do next is get a pair of tongs and go in and stir everything together.

So,here is your sausage and cabbage.
