Transcript:How to Make Yucca Chips

Hi, I’m Roblé for About.com. Today I’m going to show you how to make yucca chips. Here we go.

Ingredients for Yucca Chips

Here are our ingredients:
  • 1 lb. of yucca root
  • 2 qt. vegetable oil (for frying)
  • kosher salt

Creating the Yucca Chips

For the first step, you want to take the yucca root. Rinse and peel it with a vegetable peeler. after in other rents, this is your cleaned yucca root. For our next step we want to slice our yucca with a vegetable slicer. I am using a Japanese mandolin. You want to set the thickness to the thickness of a dime and start slicing.

Frying the Yucca Chips

Heat your oil up to 325° and you are ready to begin flying. You want to just individually dropped these chips right in. Keep writing them until they get crispy and start to brown a little bit. You want to remove them right onto a tray lined with paper towels. This will absorb all of the excess oil once they are on the tray and season them with a bit of salt. And here all your homemade yucca chips.
