Transcript:How to Make Yucca ChipsHi, I’m Roblé for About.com. Today I’m going to show you how to make yucca chips. Here we go.
Ingredients for Yucca ChipsHere are our ingredients:
- 1 lb. of yucca root
- 2 qt. vegetable oil (for frying)
- kosher salt
Creating the Yucca ChipsFor the first step, you want to take the yucca root. Rinse and peel it with a vegetable peeler. after in other rents, this is your cleaned yucca root. For our next step we want to slice our yucca with a vegetable slicer. I am using a Japanese mandolin. You want to set the thickness to the thickness of a dime and start slicing.
Frying the Yucca ChipsHeat your oil up to 325° and you are ready to begin flying. You want to just individually dropped these chips right in. Keep writing them until they get crispy and start to brown a little bit. You want to remove them right onto a tray lined with paper towels. This will absorb all of the excess oil once they are on the tray and season them with a bit of salt. And here all your homemade yucca chips.
