Transcript:Cuban SandwichHi, I'm Drew Duncan for About.com Food. Today I'm going to show you how to make the perfect pressed Cuban sandwich. It's a very simple process with six ingredients and five basic steps.
Cuban Sandwich IngredientsThe ingredients include:
- dill pickles
- roast pork
- smoked ham
- Swiss cheese
- yellow mustard
- Cuban bread
Heat the GriddleTurn on your griddle and set the temperature to 350 degrees. You'll know the griddle is ready when a drop of water sizzles.
Layer the Cuban Sandwich IngredientsSlice your bread in half and spread mustard on both halves. Place the first half on the griddle and layer your ham, pork, cheese, and pickles. Place the remaining half of the bread on top.
Press and Cut the Cuban SandwichNext, take your pan and press it down on top of the sandwich. You want the sandwich to be pressed to about a fourth of its original size.
Your Cuban is done when the bread is crispy and the cheese is melted. Take your sandwich off the griddle, and cut it diagonally across the length of the sandwich.
After your first bite, you'll be saying, "Vive el Cubano!" Thanks for watching. To learn more, please visit us on the Web at food.about.com.
