Hi, this is Angela Dawn for About.com, and today I'm going to show you how to throw a Rapunzel party for kids.
Brainstorm Ideas that go with the Rapunzel Theme
Kids are swept the away with amazing and wondrous stories of magic, far away castles, and of course, honorable princes and elegant princesses. A Rapunzle birthday for your child will stay in their minds, and let them look back at childhood with fond memories.
It is important to plan smart and in advance. You already have your theme. Now, begin a list of things related to your theme. Things like the a tower, long hair, Rapunzle, Flynn Rider, and so on. These are what you are going to be incorporating into your decoration and other motifs. Also, pick a color scheme. I used purple, yellow, pink, and white.
For Rapunzel there are several stories, and movies to help you put your ideas together. Next make a list of every thing you need for a typical party.
Planning Your Rapunzel Party
Now go over the two lists, figuring out how to put party items with your preferred theme, like, Rapunzel table cloths, a cake, cups, plates, party favors, games, ect. Find a place where you can purchase these items, or come up with a way to make them. To make things even more enjoyable, you can make it a dress up party. Your little tyke may be thrilled to dress up as a prince or princess. Once you know what you need write it all down and organize it. Plan the games for the day, the food and drinks, and the invitations. These typical party things should be done with Rapunzel in mind.
DIY Decorations for a Child's Birthday Party
An easy and pretty decoration is yarn and mosh posh ballon balls. You can also do a streamer using the color scheme. Some more fun ideas are paper candles and printed out copies of Flynn Rider and Rapunzle.
For food decorations try building the tower with doughnuts and decorating with icing. You can do tower cupcakes as well.
A fun idea for the plates is to glue a black fork underneath, creating a frying pan. For cups you can customize with printed out Rapunzle medallions. You can also customized small water bottles with card stock and medallions to add a nice touch. Or another option is to drop submersible l.e.d lights into a pitcher of punch. This gives off an eye-catching look.
Party Games, Snacks and Favors
You can come up with a lot of activity ideas for the party. One themed game is pin the chameleon on the horse, played like, pin the tail on the donkey.
If you need extra snacks you can create fun peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with themed cookie cutters. Or you can make Rapunzle's favorite hazelnut soup.
Top off the party by sending the kids home with a small goody bag filled with treats. We may have the future ahead of us to look forward to, but, we never have today again. Makes your child's memories worth remembering.
