Hi, I'm Jacob Taxis for About.com In this video, you will learn how to throw a kid's fall festival party.
Fall Festival Invitations
Autumn is a beautiful time to throw a party. The incredible array of colors that Fall offers makes for an excellent pallet when it comes to creating invitations.
For a simple, joyful invitation that kids will love, you can't go wrong with construction paper. Try paper apples, leaves, pumpkins, or colored corn stalks for invitation templates. If you go with the colored corn, spell each child's name out in colored corn kernels on the invitation itself.
Fall Festival Decorations
Dot the party space with miniature pumpkins, gourds, or pomanders. To make pomanders, create fall-themed images on oranges with cloves and place them in bowls.
You might also want to fill bowls around the house with bright, juicy apples or pears.
In terms of a color theme, think brown, orange, red, and yellow. Balloons are always a hit as are large cut-out leaves taped to the walls. This will provide a wonderful, autumn atmosphere.
Fall Festival Activities
Carving pumpkins is always a favorite at fall parties. Another great option is caramel toss. Line up a row of 3-5 containers or real hollowed-out pumpkins. Each child begins at one end of the row and moves his or her way along the line, attempting to toss a caramel into each empty bucket. At the end of each game, give out candy corn or caramels to each participant as a prize.
Fall Festival Food
For a great fall snack, serve popcorn and apple cider. If you're interested in serving a dessert, try an apple cake made with real apples and apple sauce. For fun, decorate the cake in autumn themes using marzipan, candy leaves, or Fall-colored frosting.
Fall Festival Party Favors
Real miniature pumpkins and gourds make for great party favors, but as an alternative, give out fall- colored gift bags filled with treats such as leaf-shaped cookies, caramel apples, or fall-themed candies.
