Hi, I'm Jacob Taxis for About.com. In this video, you will learn how to make party favors for a Toy Story party.
Today, we'll look at three fun, affordable, easy-to-make party favors that are sure to impress young Toy Story fans.
Toy Story Party Favors: Painted Piggy Banks
One great party favor is a painted piggy bank. You can either paint the ceramic piggy banks yourself and give them out at the end, or you can incorporate piggy bank painting into the party. With the piggy banks, lay out a variety of non-toxic enamel paints and brushes, and invite the kids to paint away.
Be sure to make room for painting at the beginning of the party. This way, the piggy banks will be dry by the time the party attendees are ready to head home.
Toy Story Party Favors: Decorated Cowboy Hats
Another great party favor is a decorated cowboy hat. Like the piggy bank, this is an inexpensive option that can be incorporated into the party as a fun activity.
Simply load up on kids' cowboy hats, stickers, puffy paint, little pom-poms, glitter glue and any foam decorations. For the party, set up a workspace and invite them to transform their hats with the materials. Encourage them to write their favorite quotes from the movie in puffy paint. You might want to have some quotes written out. If you allow time at the beginning for this activity, the party attendees can wear their unique hats all afternoon.
Toy Story Party Favors: Sheriff Badge Crayons
Lastly, sheriff badge crayons are a wonderful way to keep the Toy Story fun going long after the party has ended. To get started, you'll need old crayons, star-shaped cookie cutters, an empty tin can, aluminium foil, cellophane and ribbon.
First, remove the paper from the crayons. Next, break the crayons up into smaller pieces and place these pieces in a tin can. Place the tin can in a stove-top pot that is filled with water and warm on low-heat. While the wax is warming, lay out a sheet of aluminum foil and place the cookie cutters on the sheet.
When the wax is melted, carefully remove the tin can and pour it into each cookie cutter. With care, hold down each cutter with one hand as you pour so as to keep the wax from escaping out of the bottom. Allow the wax to harden and cool. Finally, remove the new sheriff badge crayons, place them on a square of cellophane, and seal up the crayons using a piece of ribbon. Set them out towards the end of the party for kids to take home and enjoy.
Red, yellow, and blue are great colors to use because they correspond to the Toy Story logo. However, for an interesting twist, try melting a few different colors together at a time. This makes for a fun, color-swirl crayon that kids are sure to appreciate.
