Transcript:How to Make Easy Harry Potter Cupcakes

Hi I'm Stephanie Gallagher for About.com and today we are making Harry Potter cupcakes. These cupcakes are perfect for a Harry Potter-themed birthday party or a Harry Potter movie party.

Harry Potter Cupcake Ingredients

To start with, you'll need chocolate cupcakes. Alternatively, you could use vanilla cupcakes or earthworm cupcakes or dirt cupcakes, whatever Harry Potter cupcake flavor you like. And you'll need gel icing in yellow and black. And you'll also need chocolate sprinkles. You'll also need vanilla frosting. You can use store-bought or homemade frosting.

Frost the Harry Potter Cupcakes

You'll want to start with cold cupcakes. I sometimes even freeze my cupcakes. This makes it easier to spread the frosting. Put a generous amount of frosting on the cupcakes. Don't be shy. This helps the decorations adhere to the frosting and the frosting adhere to the cupcakes.

Decorate the Harry Potter Cucpakes

Now we're going to add Harry's hair and that's your chocolate sprinkles, and that's going to be Harry's hair. Luckily, Harry has rather messy hair, so it's okay if it isn't perfect.

Now we add the lightning bolt scar. Isn't that fun? And now we add Harry's glasses. We'll use the black gel icing for the glasses. And we'll also use the black gel icing for Harry's eyes, nose and mouth. And let's give him a smiling mouth. And then we just finish Harry's glasses with the black gel icing.
