Transcript:How to Make Spaghetti Casserole
Hi, I'm Stephanie Gallagher for About.com, and today, we're making one of the easiest one-dish meals you'll ever make: spaghetti casserole. Let's get started.
Ingredients for Spaghetti Casserole
For this recipe, you will need:
- 16 oz. spaghetti
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 28 oz. jars of spaghetti sauce
- 2-1/2 cups shredded mozzarella or Italian cheese blend
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Cook Spaghetti
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Add the spaghetti and return to a boil. Cook according to the package directions for al dente.
Combine Sauce, Egg and Milk
Pour half a jar of the spaghetti sauce in the bottom of a 9 x 13 baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom. This keeps the spaghetti casserole from sticking.
Crack the egg into a large mixing bowl, and beat it with a whisk. Add the milk and beat well. Add the remainder of one jar of spaghetti sauce. Whisk to combine.
Add Spaghetti to Baking Dish
Drain the spaghetti. Then add the spaghetti to the spaghetti sauce mixture in the mixing bowl, and stir.
Pour on Remaining Sauce and Cheese
Pour the remaining sauce into the bowl, and stir to coat the spaghetti with the sauce mixture. Pour into the prepared pan. Sprinkle on the cheese, spreading it evenly.
Bake Spaghetti Casserole
Next place it on the middle rack of the preheated oven, and bake 30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the casserole is bubbly.
That's all for today. For more great recipes just like this one, join us on the web at About.com.
