Transcript:How to Make Witch Hat Cupcakes

Hi I'm Stephanie Gallagher for About.com, and today, we're making witch hat cupcakes for Halloween.

Ingredients for Witch Hat Cupcakes

For these cupcakes, you'll need already-baked cupcakes with some type of white or vanilla or cream cheese frosting. They can be homemade or store-bought.

You'll need some type of round chocolate-covered cookie. These are chocolate-covered biscuits, which I love. The important thing is just that it's round and that it's a couple of inches in diameter.

You'll need chocolate kisses. You'll need black gel icing. You'll need orange sprinkles, and you'll need a little bowl with some water in it. I'll show you what we do with that later.

Smooth the Frosting

So you take your cupcake, and if it's a homemade cupcake, you want to spread some white frosting on it. If it's store-bought, just smooth it down, like I'm doing here, so the top is nice and smooth.

Create the Witch Hat

Then take the chocolate cookie, and tilt it a little to the side, so it's at a slight angle and attach it to the cupcake.

Then unwrap one Hershey kiss and just put a dab of black gel icing on the bottom of the Hershey kiss. We're just using this for glue. The reason I'm using black is so that it doesn't show in case it spreads. Attach the kiss to the chocolate cookie.

Decorate the Witch Hat

Now you've got the hat, and we just want to give her a little sprinkle finesse. So I dip my fingers in the water, and I add a little bit of water on top of the Hershey kiss and the brim of the hat, so the orange sprinkles stick.

Now we take the orange sprinkles, and just sprinkle some on, and give this little witch a fun sparkle to her hat.

There you have it: witch hat cupcakes. Could they be any simpler?

That's all for today. For more great Halloween recipes, just like this one, join us on the web at About.com.
