Hi, I'm Stephanie Gallagher for About.com, and today, we're making healthy rice crispy treats.

Rice Crispy Treats Ingredients

For this recipe, you'll need 4 cups of brown rice crispy cereal. You'll need 1 cup of unsalted peanut butter. I'm using organic, but it doesn't have to be organic. You'll need 1 cup of brown rice syrup, and you can look for that at a natural foods supermarket, like a Whole Foods store, or Trader Joe's. You'll need chocolate sauce for drizzling. And you'll need some type of cooking spray.

Measure the Rice Crispy Treat Ingredients

We're going to start by spraying our bowl. And this just makes it easier to get our rice crispy treats out of the bowl when we're ready.

Next, we want to measure 4 cups of the crispy rice cereal into our bowl. Now measure a cup of the peanut butter, and add that to a 3-quart saucepan. Measure out a cup of the brown rice syrup, and make sure you use a liquid measuring cup for that. Add that to the peanut butter in the saucepan.

Boil the Ingredients

Stir together, and bring to a boil. While our brown rice syrup and peanut butter are cooking, take a 9 x 13 pan and spray it with cooking spray. This will keep our rice crispy treats from sticking.

Set the Rice Crispy Treats

When the brown rice syrup and peanut butter mixture boils, just pour it over the brown rice crispy cereal. Stir to coat the rice crispy cereal well. Spread the rice crispy treats mixture into the prepared pan. Just press it down so it's nice and evenly spread out in the pan. Let the peanut butter rice crispy treats cool completely at room temperature.

Serve the Rice Crispy Treats

Pour the chocolate sauce over the rice crispy treats, drizzling it on rather generously.
