Hi, Cliff Wildman here for About.com Food. Today I'm going to show you how to make a healthy tasty dessert, it's an old classic - baked apples.Ingredients for Baked Apples
For this recipe you'll need six large baking apples, I suggest jonagold as the variety you use. We'll need three quarters of a cup of brown sugar firmly packed, a half a cup of raisins, a half a teaspoon of cinnamon, a quarter teaspoon of nutmeg, and about a tablespoon of butter.Prepare the Apples
Preheat the oven to three hundred and fifty degrees, and we'll start by washing and coring the apples. Next, we'll take the brown sugar, the raisins, the cinnamon and nutmeg and mix them in a bowl.Fill the Apples
we'll take that mixture and put it into the cores of the apples and you want to push the sugar down a bit and get the apples as full as possible. And now we'll pour water on the bottom of the dish, just enough to cover the bottom of the pan.Bake the Apples
And last, on top of each apple place a dab of butter and we want to put to put this in the oven at three hundred an fifty degrees for thirty minutes. About halfway through, you want to pull the dish out and baste the apples with the juices on the bottom of the dish, then put it back in the oven until you get to thirty minutes.Serving Baked Apples
After thirty minutes, take them out, baste them one last time with the juices and then you serve by putting the apple on a plate, cutting in half and here I'm gong to add some freshly made whipped cream. This is a delicious dish, make sure to serve it warm. Thanks for watching and for more videos check out About.com.
