I am Hiroko Shimbo, from Hiroko's Kitchen, in New York City for About.com. Today I will show you how to cut avocado for your California Roll.Find a Firm Avocado
OK, here is avocado. When you buy avocado at the store just make sure that it is not too mushy or too soft. Should be firm, but not stone firm.Cut the Avocado
So, first make a cut just in half. Let's get rid of the stone. And you can twist open. OK.Now, don't peel the avocado but you are going to slice. First half, and this way depending on the size of the avocado, when it's small maybe after half. I cut into three. Well, this is fairly large. So, now I'm cutting this into four and with the skin so that the avocado stays very nice and crescent shape. And, you can keep this as is. Or, maybe with a little squeeze of lemon juice sprinkle it. One or two hours without much discoloration.
Peel the Skin
OK, so, and just before using you peel the skin like this. And very clean and easy to use. OK, here you go. So, this is avocado for your inside California Roll. Now, it's become a classic of American inside out roll. Thanks for watching. To learn more, visit us on the web at about.com.
