Hello, my name is Dai Ishiguro for About.com. Today I'm going to teach you what is nigiri sushi.
Meaning of Nigiri Sushi
Nigiri sushi is the most common sushi in Japan. And "Nigiri" in Japanese means "hand-formed sushi." First, you grab a handful of sushi rice. Then you put a little bit of wasabi on top of sushi rice and you put sliced raw fish. Then you use index finger and you press just a little bit. Then you give it to the customer.
How to order at a restaurant in Japanese: "Nigiri Sushi Futatsu Kudasai." "Can I get two pieces of Nigiri Sushi?"
