Hi. I'm Kyoko with ilanguageschool.com here for About.com. Let's learn some Japanese. Today I'm going to show you a few phrases for when you are grocery shopping.

Basic Japanese Grocery Shopping Phrases

Sumimasen. Pan wa doko desuka? / Excuse me. Where is bread?

Pan wa massugu itte hidari gawa ni arimasu. Go-annai shimasu node, kochira e douzo. / Go straight and it'll be on your left. I'll show you. Please come this way.

Hai. Anou…gyuunyuu wa doko desuka? / OK….Well, where is milk?

Nyuu-seihin wa reji no chikaku ni arimasu. Ima kita tokoro o modotte, reji o toorisugiruto, migi gawa ni arimasu. / Dairy is near the cashier, Go back to where we came, go past the cashier, and it'll be on your right.

Ah, sou desuka. Arigatou gozaimashita. / I got it. Thank you.

Dou itashi mashite / You're welcome.
