Hi. My name is Kyoko. I'm a Japanese teacher with ILanguageSchool.com here for About.com. Let's learn some Japanese.

Directions in Japanese

Today I'm going to teach you some useful Japanese phrases to ask for directions.

Sumimasen. / Excuse me.

Suupaa ni ikuniwa douyatte ikeba iidesuka? / Could you tell me how to get to a supermarket?

Dono suupaa desu ka? / What kind of supermarket?

Ookii suupaa o sagashite imasu. / I'm looking for a big one.

Ookina suupaa desune... / A big one…

Massugu ni itte hidari gawa ni suupaa ga arimasu. / Go straight and it will be on your left.

Arigatou gozaimasu. / Thank you very much.

Okane o oroshitai node. / I would like to withdraw some money.

Ginkou o gozonji desuka? / Do you know where a bank is?

Hai. / Ok.

Ginkou wa suupaa no hantai gawa desu. / A bank is across the street from the suprmarket.

Massugu ni itte migi gawa desu. / Go straight and it will be on your right.

Arigatou gozaimashita. / Thank you so much.

Tasukari mashita. / You're very helpful.

Iie, tondemo arimasen. / You're welcome.
