Transcript:Quick Tip: How to Serve Pasta
Here's a quick tip on how to serve pasta.
Cook the pasta al dente, which is slightly firm -- not too soft and not too hard, then drain thoroughly but do not rinse the pasta. Immediately add the warm, cooked, drained pasta to your sauce and toss lightly.
Plating the Pasta
Use a pasta ladle or tongs to plate the pasta. For long pasta, gentle grab a small amount and lay it down onto the middle of your serving plate, then slightly twist the pasta a half turn.
Top the pasta with freshly grated parmesan cheese and a sprig of basil. Remember, pasta is traditionally the first course in Italy.
