Transcript:How to Make Italian Braciole Stuffed Steak

Hi, I am Gina miller with About.com. Today I'm going to make Braciole, (Italian Stuffed Steak), a wonderful Italian dish that has been handed down through my family since the early 1900.

What is Braciole?

What is unique about Braciole is you can buy an inexpensive cut of meat like round steak, make sure it is tenderized, then you can begin to stuff it creatively with whatever you prefer,

Braciole Ingredients

The ingredients I am going to use today are:
  • 1/2 lb Round Steak - Tenderized ( Serves 1-2 people)
  • 2 Table Minced garlic
  • 1/2 cup of chopped Italian Parsley
  • 2 Table chopped green onions
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan Reggiano Cheese
  • Kitchen Twine
  • Salt & Pepper to taste
  • 4 Cups of Pre-pared Pasta Sauce*
  • 3 Cups of cooked Pasta** (Serves 2)
So let’s get started!

Season Steak and Add Filling

Sprinkle both sides of round steak that is tenderized with salt & pepper. In the center add your chopped garlic, Italian parsley and green onions to the center Fill until you realize you can still roll it easily, then you can add the P-R cheese.

Rolling the Steak

After add all your ingredients, you can begin to roll you steak keeping all ingredients on the inside. Using kitchen twine tie your (rolled steak) Braciole so it will stay together while cooking. Add just a drop or two of olive oil to the Braciole to help with the browning process.

Brown and Cook the Stuffed Steak

To a re-heated skillet, brown meat on all sides until brown. Then add it to your spaghetti sauce and let it cook slowly on low for 2-3 hours until tender to cut.
