Ingredients for Penne All' Arrabbiata

Here are the ingredients you'll need:

  • 1 lb. penne pasta
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon fresh basil, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 can diced tomatoes (28 ounces)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh Italian flat parsley
  • 6 tbsp. Parmesan cheese

Make the Sauce for Penne All' Arrabbiata

Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté the onion and garlic in the oil for about 5 minutes. Next stir in the tomato paste and sauté for 1 minute. Add the wine, sugar, basil, oregano, red pepper flakes, diced tomatoes, black pepper and kosher salt. Bring to a boil. Then reduce the heat to medium, and simmer uncovered for about 20 minutes. Then add the Italian parsley and cook for another 5 mintues.

Finish and Serve Penne All' Arrabbiata
