Transcript:How to Take Videos on an iPhone

Hi, I'm Elisa Pupko for About.com, and here's how you take a video with your iPhone.

Getting Started With Video

The first thing you want to do is tap the camera icon on your home screen. Then you want to make sure that your camera is selected for video in the bottom right-hand corner, slide the button over and now you are in video mode.

You have a few options when you're taking a video – you can turn the light on, off, or have it be auto by tapping in the upper left-hand corner, either auto, on, or off. When you turn it on, you get a light on the front of your camera. You can flip the camera around so that you can see yourself while you're filming.

Begin Recording Video

To focus the video screen, just tap it once and the focus button will appear on your subject. To begin filming, tap the red button at the bottom of the screen and your video will begin filming. You can either film vertically, up and down, and turn your camera sideways and film horizontally. While filming, it'll keep track of how long your video is in the upper right-hand corner.

Editing Video

When you are done filming, simply tap the red button again and your video is ended. To view your video, tap the square in the bottom left-hand corner. And you can either play your video from here – hit pause, you also have the option to edit or crop down the video. Up here at the top, you can simply tap and hold the edit bar at the top. When it's yellow, you can then drag it and trim the video however you like. When you're done trimming the video, simply hit trim, and your new video will be saved.

Saving Video on Your iPhone

To delete the video, press the trash button in the bottom right-hand corner and it'll ask to confirm if you would like to delete your video. You can also email the video, send it as a text message, or send it directly to Youtube from your iPhone. To return to the video screen to film another video tap the bottom left-hand corner, blue camera icon and you're ready to film another video.

And that is how you film a video with your iPhone. For more information, please visit About.com.
