Transcript:How to Convert iPod Video
Hi, I am Gretchen Siegchrist for About.com, and I am going to give you some tips for putting videos on your iPod or iPhone.iPod Video Formats
iPods only play QuickTime and MPEG-4 movie files that end in ".mov", ".m4v", or ".mp4". To put your movies on your iPod or iPhone you'll need to convert them into one of these video formats. Apple programs like iMovie and Quicktime include built-in export options for iPod compatible videos.Software to Convert iPod Video
There are many other types of software available for converting videos for the iPod. Some popular ones include: Leawo Free iPod Converter, 3GP Converter, and PQDVD for PCs, and Handbrake or iSquint for Macs. Technically, you're not supposed to copy encrypted DVDs to your mobile device, but there are many programs that allow you to do just that, such as the ones listed above. Be aware, though, that this may violate copyright laws. To avoid any impropriety, you're best off purchasing and downloading movies from the iTunes store and putting them on your iPod that way.Using iTunes for iPod Video
Once you have your videos converted to the proper format, you can import them to your iTunes video library. Connect your iPod to your computer and select "Manually Manage Music and Videos." Drag your videos from the ITunes library to your iPod. Now you are ready to watch videos on your iPod. Congratulations!About videos are made available on an "as is" basis, subject to the User Agreement.
