Transcript:How to Back Up an iTunes Library

Hi, I'm Shane Murphy, your technology Guru for About.com. Today we’ll look at how to back up your iTunes library.

Instructions for How to Back Up an Itunes Library

Start by opening your music folder. Now click on iTunes, then iTunes Media. Here you will see folders for Music, Movies, and other media contained in your iTunes library. Select all of the media types you’d like to back up and hit CTRL + CWith your backup drive connected, go to "Computer." Select and open the external hard drive disk you'd like to use. Hit CTRL + V and your files will start copying.

Tips for Backing Upan iTunes Library

Once finished, right click your external drive and click eject. You can now insert your external hard drive into a different computer and easily transfer your entire iTunes library using the same procedure.
