Hi, I'm Pamela French for About.com. Today we're going to show you how to shut down apps on an iPad
Displaying the Apps That Are Running
In order to shut down an app on the iPad, you must first get to the task bar. You can do this by tapping on the home button quickly 2 consecutive times. A row of the running app icons will be displayed at the bottom of the screen. Hold your finger on the app icon until it jiggles and a little red circle appears in the left top corner of the icon.
Shutting Down Unnecessary Apps
When you press the red circle, the open app icon will disappear from the task bar. You needn't worry, it only stopped running that app from the background, it didn't delete from the iPad. After you've finished shutting down the apps you don't want running, you simply press the home button and your configuration will be saved.
If you press the home button again, your iPad will return to the home display screen.
