Transcript:How to Make a Fruit and Vegetable Centerpiece

Hi! I am designer, Daniel Mar, from House of Flash Fashion Lifestyle Accessories. I am here at BoConcept where today I am going to teach you how to create a modern centerpiece using fruits or vegetables that might be edible too.

For This Centerpiece Design, You Will Need:

  • Square container
  • Florist foam
  • Florist wire
  • Shears
  • Bosc pears
  • Edible pearlescent powder
  • Soft dry brush
  • Florist pins
  • Spanish moss

Prepare the Centerpiece Base to Hold Your Fruit Design

Just cut the blocks so they fit in your container and you don't need to fill the entire container, but you just want to make sure you have enough room for your pavÈ. You want to cover your moss with organic material. Here I am using Spanish moss. So once you cover your foam, you can pin it down using florist pins. You want to cover the entire surface of the foam with your Spanish moss. Now if you plan on making this an edible arrangement, you want to make sure that you use a moss that is organic or fresh moss that you can get from your grower. Next, you're going to need some florist wire. You are going to cut segments long enough to be inserted into the foam and through the pears.Again, if you plan on making this an edible arrangement, you might want to use something like kebab sticks.

Add Finishing Touches to Your Fruit Centerpiece Design

So I am using bosc pears. What you want to do is thread the wire through the pair and down into the foam. You want to keep doing this until you've covered the entire surface. So once you're done putting together your pavÈ of pears as a finishing touch, you want to take some edible pearlescent powder and brush it on the pears. It's going to add a beautiful sparkle to your pears, plus it's edible. All you have to do is just take a soft dry brush and just let the powder fall. You are just dusting the pears with this edible pearl dust. You can find edible pearl dust at either at your baking supply store or a craft store that carries cake supplies and that's it. You've just created a modern centerpiece for fall using fruits.
