Today we'll review how to easily locate your IM chat logs on your computer.

Location of Messenger Chat Logs

There are two locations that your folder for chat logs will usually save themselves to on your computer: in the program's application folder and in "My Documents."

Searching for Messenger Chat Logs

To search the first area, first click start then computer. Now open the c:/ drive and then program files. Find the folder for the chat program you use and start perusing for a folder entitled "logs." This may be located under your user name.

Or try clicking start and then "documents" to dig up the logs folder, which again will be named according to the program.

If you're still having trouble locating it, you can try searching your computer by clicking start then filling in logs in the search field. Make sure you click "search everywhere" to search every folder on your computer.
