Hi! This is Angela Lussier for About.com, and today you'll learn how to motivate employees with rewards.
Tips for Motivating Employees With Rewards
The first step in identifying what motivates your employees is asking them. If you want to reward their hard work, you want to make sure you're giving them the right things. One way to do this is through workshops. You can hold a personality assessment workshop where the attendees fill out forms about what they like to be appreciated, how they like to be recognized, and based on those results, you'll find out a lot about the people who work for you and you'll better understand how you can give them rewards for their hard work.
Rewarding Employees
Once the meetings have taken place between the supervisors and the employees, the next most important step is for the supervisors to come together with the human resources team and discuss their findings. This meeting could lead to new policies and procedures, and new ways to reward the employees based on the feedback you've received.
More Tips for Motivating Employees With Rewards
Some examples of motivators include extra money, more vacation time, telecommuting, flexible scheduling, and recognition in front of his or her peers. Everyone is motivated differently. That's why it's so important to follow through on all the steps we've talked about today. Make sure you hold the meeting where everyone fills out the assessments. Ask everyone individually what kinds of rewards they'd like to receive, and make sure you talk to HR to put those policies into place.
