Hi, I'm Debbie Anderson for About.com. Are you tired? Cranky? Wish you had a cup o' java to kick-start your day? Well, then here are a few important features to consider before buying a coffee maker.

No-Mess Coffee Pot Features

There's nothing worse than jonesin' for that first cup of coffee in the morning while still waiting for the coffee to brew, and if you happen to pull out the coffee pot too soon, sometimes this can create a real mess. This feature allows you to remove the coffee pot before the brewing cycle is complete, without having coffee dribble all over the heating plate. The opening under the filter is low and touches the top of the pot, and when the pot is removed, the valve closes as you take out the coffee pot.
