Hi, I am Indira Fernandez with Cinderella's Cleaning Services in Houston, Texas, and today I am going to talk to you about how to vacuum efficiently.

Clean From Top to Bottom to Vacuum Efficiently

Tip number one is, we clean from top to bottom. So in other words, if you are going to vacuum, make sure you dust all furniture first. This way the dust that falls from the furniture will fall on the carpet, or the rug, and then once you vacuum it will leave you a clean carpet or a clean rug.

Tip number two will be to keep an eye on the cord. And what I do is I am actually right-handed so I manage my vacuum cleaner with my right hand, and with my left one, to the side, I try to keep the cord away. Two reasons: number one, so that you don't trip on the cord, and number two, to prevent your vacuum cleaner actually going over the cord and damaging it.

Start in a Corner to Vacuum Efficiently

When you are going to vacuum, you start from one corner. You can do it in segments. But the segment that you do choose to do, you actually go in lines. It is always best to keep a certain pattern so that you know you haven't missed any spots.

Another thing to keep in mind is, if you have anything that is over the size of a quarter, it's best if you just pick it up by hand.

Check Cleaner Bags Before Using to Vacuum Efficiently

As far as maintaining your vacuum cleaner, of course you have to make sure you check the bag every time before you use it, just to make sure that it's not full or it's not at the level that you need to replace it. Keeping a bag too full doesn't help with the clogging or even general maintenance of the vacuum cleaner.

And it's also best, depending on how frequently and how much you actually vacuum, but at least take it in once a year to get it serviced. And these are some tips on how to vacuum efficiently.
