Hi! I'm Debbie Anderson for About.com! Cleaning Stainless Steel may feel like a bit of an overwhelming challenge. So today, I';m going to show you the best step-by-step way to clean stainless steel! To Clean Stainless Steel, You Will Need:
- Microfiber wash cloth,
- Liquid dish soap,
- Glass cleaner
- Nonabrasive stainless steel cleaner.
Gently Wipe the Stainless Steel Clean in the Direction of Polish Lines
First, the safest method for cleaning stainless steel is by applying a small amount of water on a clean microfiber cloth and then gently wipe the stainless steel in the direction of the polish lines until the stainless steel is clean. Finally, use a clean dry microfiber cloth to polish the stainless steel in the direction of the polish lines until the stainless steel appears to be dry and spotless.Next, for a more powerful cleaning, place a small amount of mild liquid dish washing soap on a clean, warm, damp microfiber cloth. Then, while washing the stainless steel in the direction of the polishing lines, gently apply the warm sudsy bubbles to the stainless steel surface and continue cleaning with the warm sudsy microfiber cloth until the stainless steel surface is clean.
Next, use warm water on a clean microfiber cloth to thoroughly rinse off the soap. Then use a clean dry microfiber cloth to thoroughly wipe up any remaining moisture on the stainless steel to prevent staining or spotting that can occur by leaving the minerals in the water on the stainless steel surface.Next, to remove finger prints and light smudges from stainless steel, spray a small amount of liquid glass cleaner on a clean soft microfiber cloth and then gently polish the stainless steel in the direction of the polishing lines until all of the finger prints and light smudges have disappeared.
Use a Nonabrasive Stainless Steel Cleaner for Tougher Stains
Finally, if your stainless steel has heavier stains or scratches on it, place a small amount of stainless steel cleaner on a clean microfiber cloth and then carefully apply the cleaner to the stainless steel until the entire surface is covered. Next, dampen a clean microfiber cloth with warm water and carefully wipe away the stainless steel polishing cleaner. Then, at the end, use a clean dry microfiber cloth to buff and polish the stainless steel in the same direction as the polishing lines until the stainless steel finish appears dry and spotless.By following these step-by-step tips on how to clean your stainless steel, it should look wonderful for many years to come!
