Transcript:How to Clean a Jacuzzi

Hi, I'm Debbie Anderson for About.com.

Reasons to Clean a Jacuzzi Bathtub

Having jets in a home jacuzzi bathtub can have many soothing benefits, however, bacteria and mold can also grow in the jets in your jacuzzi bathtub over time if they aren't cleaned on a regular basis. So today I'm going to show you how to safely clean the jets in your home jacuzzi bathtub without using harsh chemicals that can cause your next bath to smell toxic.

Supplies for Cleaning a Jacuzzi Bathtub

For this task you will need:
  • a gallon of vinegar
  • four (4) large lemons
  • a kitchen knife
  • a cutting board
  • and a clean old towel

How to Clean a Jacuzzi

First, after placing the drain stopper in the bottom of the bathtub, turn on the bathtub's water faucet and fill the bathtub with lukewarm water just until the water line reaches up to just about an inch or two over the top of the jets inside the bathtub.

Next, pour one gallon of vinegar into the water in the bathtub.

Next, use your kitchen knife and cutting board to cut the four large lemons into four large quarter pieces each so you have a total of 16 large lemon wedges.

Next, squeeze the lemon juice from each of the lemon wedges into the vinegar water in the bathtub. Then place the lemon wedges in the water so the rest of the juices from the lemon wedges can mix in with the vinegar water.

Once the solution is ready, turn the jets timer on your jacuzzi bath tub to 10 minutes and allow the mixture to work its way through the jacuzzi's jet system inside the bathtub.

Once the timer goes off, then remove the lemon wedges from the water and remove the drain stopper from the bathtub to allow the water to completely drain out of the bathtub.

Finally, wipe down the inside of the bathtub and the jets with an old clean towel.

Now continue to clean your home jacuzzi bathtub's jets on a monthly basis and every jacuzzi bathing experience should be a delightful experience.
