Hi I'm Carissa Loethen for About.com If you just didn't get enough horror flicks around Halloween -- here are our Top 5:
Top Horror Movie: Final Destination
"Final Destination" follows Alex, a teen who is boarding a plan for a school trip. He suddenly has a vivid premonition that the plane will explode and he ends up getting himself and a group of students thrown off the plane. As they watch the plane depart, they actually see it blow up! Now, each of the surviving victim's that was meant to die has to continue trying to cheat Death, who isn't happy they weren't killed the first time.
Top Horror Movie: 28 Days Later
"28 Days Later" begins with a man, Jim, awakening from a coma. He finds himself alone in the London hospital. He wanders into the street and doesn't see a soul. He finally finds a church and discovers the gruesome truth: zombie-like humans have taken over. He is rescued by two people who then bring him up-to-date on what happened. This movie is a tale of survival -- and these zombies aren't just the slow-moving brainless ones, either. They are fast, and very, very scary. It turns out the disease was spread when animal activists invaded a lab and released the test chimpanzees who were undergoing an experiment with a virus that causes rage. Once one human was infected, everything after that became chaotic.
Top Horror Movie: IT
"IT" is based off the Stephen King novel of the same name. In 1960, a group of bullied social outcasts are not only picked on by a gang, but also tormented by an evil demon! Turns out this demon can shape shift into a clown and kill children. The group of outcasts had defeated the evil being 30 years before, but it came back, and now they must defeat "IT" as adults as well.
Top Horror Movie: A Nightmare on Elm Street
There's nothing like a little Freddy Krueger to scare the living bajeezus out of you. In "A Nightmare on Elm Street," Nancy Thompson, Tina Gray, Rod Lane, Glen Lantz and others are being tormented by the clawed killer. Freddy slowly tries to pick off his victims one by one, but the problem is the gruesome figure tries to kill them in their sleep. We find out the reason he picked these people as his targets is because they are all children of the mob that killed him. After seeing this, we don't think you're going to want to live on Elm Street.
Top Horror Movie: The Exorcist
In what other movie besides The Exorcist can you see a little girl's head do a full 360? The story is about a 12-year-old little girl who suddenly starts acting suspiciously. Doctors blame puberty at first, but then paranormal occurrences begin to occur. It becomes very clear, very fast the little girl is possessed. And those puke scenes? Gross.
Top Horror Movie: Rosemary's Baby
Topping our list of horror movies is "Rosemary's Baby." A happy, loving couple, Rosemary and Guy Woodhouse, move into an apartment together. Even though the building has a bad reputation, the couple is delighted to find out their neighbors are a friendly elderly couple named Roman and Minnie Castevet. Suddenly, strange things start to happen, and Rosemary becomes pregnant. She then begins to suspect those "friendly" neighbors have malicious plans for her child.
