When looking for free sources online, try to look for sites that don't require you to enter personal information, or download and purchase software. There are plenty of sites where you can print free images and worksheets. I printed this free worksheet from superteacherworksheets.com. It's a map of South America with the countries listed. But there are no capitals. As you're teaching about the capitals with this worksheet, have the students fill in the capitals for you.

You can always print a blank map, and you don't always need to go to education sites. I found this one on a search engine's free images site. Ask your students to fill in the names of the countries and also use this map to point to countries and ask the students to say the names out loud or spell them A worksheet isn't just about writing on a piece of paper. You can use this tool in many ways in the classroom.

And take the time to find worksheets that delve into individual countries and not just a larger map. Here's one of Ecuador, with a picture of the country's flag. You can use this as a coloring page for the students to color in with appropriate colors for each country's flag, and you can also use it for learning country's facts. After it's been colored, have them list their five favorite facts they've learned about this South American country, all around the border of the page.
