Transcript:How to Remove Toilet Rust Stains
Hi! I'm Debbie Anderson for About.com! Having tough rust stains build up inside the bowl of your toilet can feel like a challenging task, so today I'm going to show you how to remove those stubborn rust stains inside your toilet bowl the environmentally friendly way!
Tools to Remove Toilet Rush Stains:
- a pair of rubber gloves
- a pumice scouring stick
- toilet bowl brush
- clean sponge
Scrub Toilet with Pumice Stick
First, after putting on your rubber gloves, flush the toilet to remove any dirty water already inside the toilet bowl. Next, wet the pumice scouring stick with the toilet bowl water inside the toilet bowl for a few minutes to prep the scouring stick.
Then, slowly start rubbing the pumice scouring stick back and forth across the stain in the toilet bowl until the pumice scouring stick begins to form a pumice paste in the bottom of the toilet bowl.Continue rubbing the pumice scouring stick and pumice paste across the stains inside of the toilet bowl until all of the rust stains built up inside the bowl have completely disappeared.
Use Toilet Brush to Scrub Pumice Paste
Once the stains appear to be completely removed, flush the toilet and allow the pumice scouring stick paste to completely wash away down the drain hole inside the bottom of the toilet bowl. Then use a toilet bowl brush to gently scrub the underside of the toilet bowl lip and deep down inside the drain hole in the bottom of the toilet bowl to lift any left over paste clinging to the inside of the toilet bowl.
Next, use a clean sponge to gently wipe down the inside edge of the toilet bowl, double checking to wipe down all of the interior toilet bowl surfaces. Finally, once the bowl looks clean, flush the toilet once again to wash away any remaining pumice scouring stick paste inside the bowl.
Now, repeat this process at least once a month to prevent any future tough rust stains from building up inside your toilet bowl and it will always look sparkling clean and free of rust buildup stains.
