I'm Max Tucci home renovations expert and interior designer for About.com  I'm going to show you how to do a modern gray kitchen paint job.

Center Island for a Gray Modern Kitchen

Now with the layout of the kitchen what you want to do is you want to have something with a center island I suggest. And instead of a kitchen table I recommend bar stools because with the center island you have versatility. You can do dining area or you can make it a buffet for Sunday brunches. It's a wonderful alternative to a kitchen table.

And then of course when you're going to do the cabinets you want the frosted glass over the clear glass.

Appliances for a Gray Modern Kitchen

When choosing appliances for your gray kitchen and make sure you want to go with something modern, something clean and something in stainless steel; it adds really well to the kitchen. A great look is mixing the gray lacquer cabinets with the stainless steel cabinets, it gives it a nice sheek look.

Accessories for a Gray Modern Kitchen

When choosing accessories for your gray modern kitchen go with some accessories that are mid century retro and in the chrome family. Of course, I love to do some ceramics.

Colors and Tiles in a Gray Modern Kitchen

Since we're talking about a modern grey kitchen paint job we’re going to stay in the gray paint family. And what I like to say is find a tile that you really love, because were working with grey im going to say get a gray and the other colors as well; blues and grays they look really well together.

Find a paint swatch sampler and then what you do is just lay out all the different gray colors and find one that you really like. With this tile I'm going to go with a gray that's just a little bit darker.
