Transcript:How to Make Dump Cake
Ingredients for Making Dump CakeTo make a dump cake, you will need:
- 1 (20-oz) can of crushed pineapple, undrained
- 1 (21-oz) can of "more fruit" cherry pie filling
- 1 (18-oz) box of yellow cake mix
- 2 sticks of butter, cut into pieces
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts
Instructions for Making Dump CakeStart by preheating your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit, or 325 if you're using a glass pan. Dump the can of crushed pineapple, along with its juices, in the bottom of a 13x9 pan and use a spatula to spread it into an even layer. Now take the cherry pie filling and spoon it over the pineapple, trying to spread it evenly so that most of the pan is covered with cherries. Use your spatula again to spread it all over.
Sprinkle the cake mix over the cherry and pineapple layers, making sure that you use all of it and that it's spread evenly. Place the slices of butter evenly over the cake mix. You're not going to be able to cover the whole area, but as the butter melts it will spread, so just try to get it in pretty even intervals.
