Hi, I'm Gina Miller with About.com food and today I'm making Baked Ham in Champagne, a delicious meal that's a great holiday treat. I love making this for my family during the holidays.

Ingredients for Baked Ham in Champagne

Here are the ingredients you'll need:

  • 1 boneless ham (3 to 5 pounds)
  • 1 box light brown sugar
  • 2 bottles extra dry champagne
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 24 whole cloves
  • and 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract

Instructions for Baked Ham in Champagne

Let's start making Baked Ham in Champagne!First, you'll need to preheat the oven 350 degrees. Then, stud the ham with cloves. Coat a roasting pan with cooking spray and place ham in pan. Cover the top of the ham with the cup of brown sugar and 1 bottle of champagne. Extra dry champagne is the best to use in this recipe, because the dryness of the wine offsets the sweetness of the ham. Bake the ham for 45 minutes at 350 degrees.

Tips for for Baked Ham in Champagne

Here's a tip: When serving keep a dish of the extra champagne glaze on the side for people who want extra sauce on their ham. Baked Ham in Champagne is a holiday tradition in my family and it's sure to become one in your family!
