Hi, I'm Carrie Wise for About.com and today I am going to show you a little holiday baking. We are going to make wreath crispy treats. These treats are miniature wreaths made of puffed rice cereal topped with a little frosting and decorations.

Holiday Wreath Crispy Treat Ingredients

Here are the ingredients you will need:
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • bag of marshmallows (10 oz)
  • box of puffed rice cereal (13 oz)
  • green food coloring
  • powdered sugar
  • cooking spray
  • foil
  • water
  • decorations

Prepare the Marshmallow

Take the butter and put it into a bowl. Microwave for 45 seconds on high. Then take the butter out of the microwave and add the marshmallows. Toss them in the butter to coat. Microwave for about one minute or until they are melted.

When the marshmallows are melted take them out of the microwave. Then take the mixture and stir.

Add the Rice Crisp Cereal

Now add the food coloring. Stir the food coloring in, adding more coloring as necessary. Once the color is mixed well, add the rice cereal. Gradually stir the cereal into the bowl. Be sure to wash your hands, because you will be handling the mixture with your hands. Now spray your hands with cooking spray.

Form the Wreaths

Dig in with your hands, and mold about a handful of the mixture into the shape of snake. Then place onto foil and connect the ends to make it look like a wreath. Continue with the rest of the mixture.

Ice the Wreaths

Once you are done assembling the wreaths, you are ready to ice and decorate. For the icing you will need powdered sugar, a small bowl, a little water, a knife and food coloring (if you would like to color the icing).

Pour into the bowl as much sugar as desired and add a little water and stir. You can adjust the thickness of the icing by adding a more sugar to thicken and more water to thin. This is going to be a drizzle frosting.

Mix the icing well. Take the bowl and drizzle the icing over the edge of the bowl onto the wreaths.

Decorate the Wreath Crispy Treats

For decorations, you can use mini M&Ms and/or sprinkles. Apply the decorations directly after icing. Once the wreath crispy treats have completely cooled you can serve them and enjoy!
