Hi, I'm JJ Burkart for About.com Home, and I'm going to show you how to prepare fettuccini alfredo.Fettucine Alfredo Tools & Ingredients
You will need:- large frying or sauté pan
- large pot
- colander
- measuring cups
- 1 stick of butter
- 1/2 pint of heavy cream
- 5-oz block of parmesan cheese
- a cheese grater
- a vegetable, such as peas
- 16-oz package of fettuccini noodles
- salt and pepper
- you may also wish to add seafood such as shrimp, crab, or lobster
Boil the Water
First fill your pot with approximately 4 quarts of water. Set your burner to high and boil the water.Fettucini Alfredo Sauce
Now start the sauce. Heat the large pan to a medium heat. Melt one stick of butter in the pan. Add 8 fluid oz of heavy cream and stir butter and cream together.Grate the entire block of parmesan cheese. Add the parmesan cheese and stir until everything is melted and creamy.
Prepare Fettucini Alfredo Pasta
Once the water is boiling, add the noodles and stir frequently for 5-7 minutes. Strain the noodles through a colander. Rinse with warm water and shake off the excess water. Pour the pasta back into the pot. Take it over to the stove.Combine Fettucini Alfredo Ingredients
Add the noodles to the pan and stir. At this time you can add your vegetable. I always use green peas. If you like, add your seafood at this time, but make sure the seafood is fully cooked. Stir the contents of the pan, then pour into a serving dish and enjoy! Thanks for watching. To learn more, visit us on the Web at food.about.com.
